An eco-friendly Ganesha idol making workshop, spreading the message of environmental conservation, was organized with great enthusiasm at the New English Medium School of the Deccan Education Society. The art teachers of the school, Mrs. Rupali Kanoje and Mrs. Apurva Aarge, guided the students and explained the importance of different types of soil found in the environment.

A live demonstration was given to the students on how to make beautiful, attractive and eco-friendly Ganesha idols from Shadu clay. In this workshop, students experienced the joy of sculpting Ganesha idols with their own hands. Through the art of idol making, students got a platform to showcase their artistic talent, their creativity blossomed, and they were inspired to celebrate festivals in an eco-friendly manner.

A Message for Environmental Conservation - In today’s times, the use of Plaster of Paris idols and chemical colours has increased the threat of water pollution. Against this backdrop, making Ganesha idols from Shadu clay and natural soil and immersing them can reduce environmental damage. The students were given valuable information about the conservation of water resources, the importance of soil and our bond with nature, which added more grace to the workshop. Under the guidance of the school’s Principal, Mrs. Hemangi Deshmukh, the students not only learned the skill of making Ganesha idols through this workshop, but also understood their responsibility towards environmental conservation.

Giving the message “A Shadu clay Ganpati, a beautiful assurance for the environment,” they set an ideal example for society. Let us celebrate an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, protect nature, and create a clean, beautiful and healthy environment for the future generations.
