National Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and in a joyful atmosphere at New English Medium School, Shaniwar Peth, on Saturday, 29th August 2026. The program was inaugurated by the Headmistress of the Primary Section of the school, Mrs. Hemangi Deshmukh, and the In-charge Headmistress of the Secondary Section, Mrs. Asavari Singasane. On this occasion, floral tributes were paid to the great hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.

On the occasion of National Sports Day, various traditional games were organized for the students, including tyre race, tug-of-war, marbles, top spinning, Lagori, musical chairs, snakes and ladders, blind man's buff, Tipri-Pani and others. The students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed these games to the fullest.

The special attraction was that the HM of the Primary Section, Mrs. Hemangi Deshmukh, herself participated in various games with the students and thoroughly enjoyed them. Her enthusiastic participation doubled the excitement of the students.

Under the guidance of HM, Mrs. Hemangi Deshmukh and Secondary Section In-charge HM, Mrs. Asavari Singasane, the school's sports teachers, Mr. Pramod Ukirde, Mr. Devidas Wakale and Mr. Shrikant Khutwad, did a wonderful job of introducing traditional games to the students and taking them into the charming world of old games. In the era of mobile phones and modern technology, students wholeheartedly enjoyed the traditional games which are gradually disappearing.

Through this initiative, a message was given to develop physical fitness, team spirit, discipline, cooperation and sportsmanship among the students. The entire Sports Day was conducted in an enthusiastic atmosphere.
